Termite Identification
Subterranean Termites | Drywood Termites | Wood Borers| Powder Post Beetles
Subterranean Termites
Subterranean Termites must live in a controlled environment... this is why it travels in a shelter tube, it will bring up mud, sand or dirt of some kind to build this shelter tube attaching it to concrete slabs, cinder blocks or what ever it can.
Drywood Termites
Drywood termites create colonies in wood, with no connection to the ground necessary, this is why Tent Fumigation is needed. They need very little moisture and are often found in the attic wood framing, wall studs, door casings and window frames.
Wood Borers
The adult will do very little damage however, the larva is what does a lot of damage. The life cycle of the Wood Borer is 3 to 12 years and the larva stage may last from 2 to 10 years.
Powder Post Beetles
The powder post beetle lives in hard woods and seasoned wood. Most of these woods are used for building and construction.
